AWKWORD [@AWKWORDrap]

On our friend and Hip Hop conspirator, Y-LoveJoe Bereta & Elliott C. Morgan of SourceFed present: Confession of a Gay Rapper. (Comedy.)

It’s true, the first Black Jewish Rapper is now also the first Gay Black Jewish Rapper. And while right (read: Left)-minded people like us honort his bravery, Right-wing and other ignorant, old-fashioned assholes everywhere are hurling epithets, etc.

When asked whether he had recently ‘come out’ feeling safer following the public ‘acceptance’ offered by the likes of Barack Obama, Jay-Z and Colin Powell, Y said:

It’s because of the negative backlash that’s coming. Because people like Michele Bachmann’s husband are still pedaling ex-gay therapy. Because there are kids that are jumping out of their school windows. I know what it feels like, and so I have to say something.

But we don’t think it’s a roadblock anymore for this veteran of Hip Hop and social and religious activism… Here, he’s featured in OUT Magazine (4,200+ facebook likes in approx. 10 days!), coming soon to print.

And, most likely strategically times, here’s a new video from Y for “Focus on the Flair” (song produced by Diwon and featuring Onili; video directed by Gary Gardner and featuring Omari, Kassandra and Leiomy Couture). Note: Look CLOSELY

In case you missed it, or had an inkling, yes, (rappers, beware:) Y does appear in drag, among the dancers ‘vogueing,’ a decision born out of his desire to also “express his feminine side.”

Like the good folks at SourceFed, our friend Y-Love has a sense of humor…

Here’s a little older youtube look from the homie, the popular video for “The Takeover”, Y’s collaboration with Andy Milonakis and Tj Di Hitmaker, also produced by Diwon.

And, yes, Milonakis still sounds like a child-age nursery rhymer… but I’d still fux with him.
